James Sharp attended art classes in the early 1990s and quickly became interested in producing work in various forms of mixed media. In the early days these were usually watercolour based but by the mid 1990s the metallic series on black paper was underway. By the end of the nineties he was also producing paintings on wood.He continues to produce work in each of these styles and each piece of work offered is an original work of art.
He has always produced collage in various media and since discovering the work of Lynne Perrella and Teesha Moore has started to create Art Journals. These include drawing, painting, writing, photographs, photocopies, stamped material and ephemera. Selected pages from these Art Journals are reproduced in booklet form and are available to purchase from this website.
In recent months he has also been working in textiles and has produced mini quilts in a distinctive "guerilla" style. He also utilises textiles to decorate Art Journals created from recycled envelopes.
James Sharp is based in the Peak National Park where he utilises a converted double garage as his studio. He works in the studio daily on his Art Journals and other mixed media projects.
